24 years is a long time; and for a company it is a mark of its continued success. It is a proof that it has stood steadfast through the test of time, and is one year shy of the most awaited silver anniversary. That’s why we’re all happy to be a part of our company’s 24th anniversary celebration. But some things will never be the same.

For starters just a few months ago it was announced that Fujitsu has acquired our mother company J-SYS. Then shortly after, J-SYS changed its name to FETEC (Fujitsu Engineering Technologies Limited). So it wasn’t a complete surprise when it was announced that JPI would also be changing its name to FETP (Fujitsu Engineering Technologies Philippines). Add to that the fact that the national elections have just finished, and it was a no brainer that EEC 2016 just had to borrow the newly elected Philippine President’s motto as a theme: “Change is Coming!” with Children’s party as a celebration concept.

All JPI employees were encouraged to bring out the child in them, both literally and figuratively, as we had everyone wear their best “Kiddie” get up to the event. What would be more hilarious than seeing these hard working employees that strive for the company’s success act as little kids for one night! Needless to say it was “funtastic” (pardon for the pun)!

We began the event with an opening prayer led by our new Accounting Assistant. Shortly after some introductions from the event’s hosts, the Management graced us with an inspiring visual showing the humble beginnings of JPI, and all of the momentous events of the company up until today. This was followed by a heart-warming speech and kanpai from our Company President.

Since kids need to have their meals on time, the main portion of the event – the dinner – was immediately served. The menu consists of Potage Crecy for the soup, Baked Garlic Chicken, Zesty Pork Steak, Salmon Belly Teriyaki, Stir Fry Vegetables with Seafood, and Spaghetti Napolitana for the main course, and Mocha Crunch Cake and Chocolate Cream Cheese Brownies for the dessert.

During dinner, our SMD Manager surprised us with a preview of the new FETP website. The sleek looks of the new site made all employees excited for its official release.

After everyone got their fill it was time to have some fun and play games. Four teams were formed at the beginning of the event, and each team had to pick their players (Thinkers, Helpers and Runners) without knowing what games will be played. And boy, were they surprised to learn what each of them had to do.

The first game is Child’s Play Relay. In this game the contestants had to guess words via Pictionary, Charades and Pinoy Henyo for 3 minutes. A correct guess corresponds to 1 point but every pass meant a deduction of 1 point. Everyone did their best to win but as the game progressed, there were some barely recognizable drawings, shrewd acting and extreme guesses that drew out laughter from everyone.

Next up was the Spaghetti and Marshmallow Tower. The rule of this game was simple. Each team had to make a tower from uncooked pasta and marshmallows in 5 minutes. Everyone showed their engineering prowess to make the tower stand on its own, but in the end only one team stood strong… and tall.

The last game is the Balloon Relay. Six participants from each team had to line up, and pass a balloon from the front to the back using their legs only. They had to start again from the beginning when the balloon fell or popped. The game seemed to have heightened the competitive spirits of the teams because everyone tried their hardest to rapidly pass the balloon in various positions.

After the games, of course, came the awarding ceremonies. The best dressed kiddies based on votes were announced. To say that these people looked like they were 7 years old again would be an understatement, and they really did bring out the essence of the night’s theme.

The winners received some nifty prizes but that wasn’t the end of it. Of course we also had to honor the winners of our games and those that fought valiantly to be on the top. What’s most important was that everyone gave their best and had fun. All kids received prizes in recognition of their teamwork.

Here are the scores and rank of each team:

Place Team Total Score Activities (Rank/Score)
Child's Play Relay Spaghetti & Marshmallow Tower Balloon Relay
1st Blue 100 pts. 2nd/30pts(5words) 3rd/20pts(21.5cm. high) 1st/50pts
2nd Green 90 pts. 3nd/20pts(2words/1pass) 1st/50pts(76.1cm. high) 3rd/20pts
3rd Yellow 80 pts. 3nd/20pts(2words/1pass) 2nd/30pts(33.5cm. high) 2nd/30pts
Orange 80 pts. 1st/50pts(7words) 4th/10pts(17cm. high) 3rd/20pts

Every good thing comes to an end, and it was inevitable that we had to close the wonderful event, and bid goodnight to everyone. But this could not happen without a moving speech to close it all off from one of our Directors.

Then, as tradition would have it, all kiddies struck a pose to for our first event group photo as Fujitsu Engineering Technologies Philippines.
